The Tennessee Valley Chapter has sponsored three $400.00 scholarships to recognize the outstanding graduating Air Force Junior ROTC cadet for the units at Butler, Bob Jones and Huntsville High Schools. The chapter wishes to recognize those cadets who have shown the most impressive scholastic achievement, outstanding leadership and exceptional support of their school’s AFJROTC program.

Since this was the second year for the scholarships, they have become a very important motivational tool within each AFJROTC unit as cadets are more interested in applying many positive lessons in discipline, responsibility, leadership and citizenship. Overall, the chapter’s scholarship program to the three area high schools has been very appreciated. One mother commented, “This scholarship will make the difference for our family being able to financially support our daughter’s first year of college.” That mother’s words certainly speak volumes for the importance of our chapter’s scholarship program.

The AFA Scholarship winners for 2008 were:

Nykeishau Cameron Butler High School

Carrie Maggio Huntsville High School

Amanda Pusczek Bob Jones High School

Colonel (retired) John Phillip, Chapter 335 Director of Education, presented the scholarship award to each recipient at their High School.
